Musicals and Musical Movie theater
Musical theater
Musical theater, or even "a musical," as it's come to be called, is probably the best forms of leisure ever devised, for me. You can get it all in there - you can have humor and/or drama, music, music, and dance just about all rolled up into one particular production on phase, on a movie display screen, or even on a tv screen.
musical movies
You are instructed a wonderful and persuasive story (drama) or else you are made to laugh before you roll in the aisles (comedy). But first and foremost, the whole story is actually told with more than simply words or pictures.
"The Black Crook" is recognized as the very first musical, and it's what gave America the authority to claim having made the musical entertainment style. The play was based on the novel by Charles M. Barras. "The Black Crook" popped on September 14, 1866, and ran for the record-breaking 474 performances. It was done at the at the 3,200-seat Niblo's Garden on Broadway, New York City. There have been countless "revivals" associated with "The Black Crook" over the years.
Musicals are presented as big-budget, high-end extravaganzas on Broadway stages and in smaller-budget off-Broadway cinemas. They're presented throughout big-budget movies and in not-so-extravagant low-budget motion pictures. They're presented by professionals, by amateur community theater groupings, and by high school drama departments. Even kindergarten classes stage musicals glaring vegetables and animals.
Musicals are generally profitable, no matter what venue they are presented within. Leave it to corporate America to find a cash cow. Right now, Broadway musicals are most often corporate-sponsored. Musicals are making any comeback on television these days, as well.
There are even musicals that have been created for the Internet! The very best example is "Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Website," about a low-rent super-villain performed by Neil Patrick Harris.
Concert events as Entertainment
We doubt anybody would likely argue the point that concerts could be called everything other than part of the "entertainment business."
The definition of "concert" is: a live performance, generally of music, ahead of an audience. You'll notice that the meaning doesn't specify what type of music or the locale of the performance. That's because there are concerts that feature music from time-honored to rap, every genre in between.
Concert events are held in fantastic old theaters along with concert halls that have been built especially for the performance of music and have positively amazing acoustics. Concerts are also kept outdoors in open-air venues where there are no acoustics in any respect. And we've all joined a junior high school graduation band concert that was held in the school auditorium, gym, or cafeteria, the place that the acoustics are absolutely terrible with sound moving around everywhere.
On the other hand, no matter what kind of audio or what the location of the performance, a new concert is enjoyment. Although I must point out that sometimes audiences are generally drawn to concerts and they are willing to pay a lot for tickets in order to concerts not just to listen to the music being carried out. Sometimes the audience is drawn to a concert because of the venue (Woodstock), your performers (famous performers or musicians), as well as because it is their work as a parent to attend regardless how bad the music could be.
Famous singers and musicians often go on concert tours. Exactly the same concert is performed, however each night the overall performance occurs in a different area. Particularly in the rock and roll, pop, or rap types, concert tours are very popular avenues to allow fans the opportunity to discover their favorite singers as well as musicians perform. Priced sales for concert tour performances generally represent a large percentage of the earnings made by record companies, managers, and producers.
